i've had a good easter break. i've only left the house a handful of times, yet it's been very nice.
i have an elbow appointment in the morning to set up surgery and then i will be back at good 'ol cu to finish out this year.
and i love, love, love extreme home makeover (in case anyone didn't already know). i want to be the host after ty. :)

so much to think about this week...
i really, realllllly enjoyed CIA on sunday night...it seemed like God just kept revealing things to me, which hasn't happened quite that rapidly in awhile. i'll try to list a few before i have to go finish studying (i just HAD to take a break):
1) i never really thought of it this way, but while nick was praying, i realized something about evangelism and sharing Christ with other people. it's not only our job, but when we don't do it, we are being totally selfish. i had really never thought of it that way before, and maybe i'm the only one who just got it, but the most selfish thing i could do in life is not take every chance i'm given to share Jesus with other people. geez, i can't believe i just realized that.
2) i was also thinking during the lesson about the stark contrast presented between Jesus and satan in the Bible. it says in isaiah that "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him." In 2 corinthians, it talks about how satan "masquerades" himself as an angel of light. i just thought it was pretty interesting that Jesus is always described as completely unnattractive to man, not something that anyone would be naturally drawn to. then there's satan, who can really take any appearance he wants to, and all of the things associated with him are so attractive to us. much easier for satan to win people, i would think, especially in Jesus' time on earth. however, people still followed Jesus when they got to know who He was, a lesson in itself.
3) we also discussed pilate, the governor who sentenced Jesus to death, and his role in the cruxifiction. it's very interesting to read back over the whole story and see that pilate really did everything he could to let Jesus "off the hook" to me. i honestly think sometimes that pilate knew Jesus was innocent, and sometimes wonder if after they went to crucify Him, pilate wept in his room. his wife even tried to convince him to let Jesus go, so he offered a choice between Jesus and barabas, the serial killer who was then let back out into the people at their own choice. also, something that i had never read before about the sign above Jesus' head:
"Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, 'Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.'
Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written.' "
funny, since it says that people walked by and read from all three language backgrounds, even though they had no idea it was simply a "claim" in the peoples' eyes. so i would say pilate even tried through Jesus' death to do the smallest thing he could do and witness to those passing by in their own languages. i think that's awesome.
so, that's what i've been thinking about this week between palm sunday and Easter. and i'm pretty thrilled to have learned all that, because it is so very interesting to me.

my spring break trip to new york.
well, i went to the big apple with campbell last week. it was GREAT fun and i'm really glad i got to go. :)
we saw all the sites, visited ground zero, chinatown, the statue of liberty/ellis island, saw "mamma mia" on broadway, and the empire state building.
then i went home for a few days, which was nice b/c i got to rest and catch up with some old friends, like amber and crystal....yahoo!

a little update...
i got back from new york on tuesday night and came home yesterday.
it was a GREAT time in ny. we got up pretty early everyday, but i still felt pretty relaxed and that was a niiiice feeling b/c the past few weeks have been long ones.
and i get to go back to new york on wednesday with jeanna for a conference at columbia. i am a very lucky person!
i went to the comedy zone and to starbucks with bracken last night which was wonderful. it was great to talk with her and i'm really glad we got to catch up. i also randomly caught up with amber perrell, which was also nice!
i found out today that my elbow surgery should only take ONE WEEK for recovery...how awesome is that!? i really can't believe it, but they say there's no therapy and it takes no time. so that was awesome news.
the lifehouse concert is being moved to april 15, so re-mark your calendars.
the more i look at bridal consultants information, the more i am dying to be one. just to let you know.
also, i took some random quizzes from jess' xanga today and apparently i should be living in the year 1969. on the "what 2004 hit song are you" quiz i came out with "she wants to move" by N.E.R.D. it said "In 2004 you got your groove on - and had the best time ever." bahahaha.
i'm pretty ready to go back to school and finish this year out, even though my summer's still a little shaky-looking at this point. but, hey, it'll work out.

it has been a looong week
but in the end, a great one.
wednesday night was the absolute worship tour here at campbell and i got to drive around the bands. i especially enjoyed exit east...they were very entertaining and very down to earth. shannon and i especially liked jo,ing around with mohawk boy about his choice in hairstyle...he decided he didn't like that and threw multiple objects at us, including towels, tape balls, and sound equiptment. (ok, maybe not sound equiptment...)
thursday was the run-off election which i ended up winning, so that was a very nice surprise after a long few weeks.
friday night lisa came through here on her way back to VA and we went to see the breakfast club with melinda, shannon, and mike. gretchen and megan ended up coming and we also saw the boys of 208 and some other camels we know, so it was a GREAT time. i seriously haven't enjoyed anything like that in a long time; i think i had been somewhat stressed and overwhelmed lately and friday i was definitely not that. but man, our feet were hurting SO badly...my toe was even bleeding when i took my shoes off when we got back. i'm sure you didn't really want to know that, but it's just further proof that lisa, melinda, and i were dancing machines.

lisa left saturday morning and last night jeff and i went to chapel hill to tiff's 21st birthday "back to the future" party, so i got to dress 80's for that. it was really awesome and i got to see old friends who were definitely the life of the party decked out in their 80's wear. it's really interesting that all of the people i have met and hung out with seperately now hang out altogether in college at UNC. it's great for me, b/c i get to see them all at once! so that was awesome, and tiff definitely paid attention to detail...she had everything from the movie in her house. what an 80's weekend it was.

but now i am still tired. i can't seem to catch up on sleep no matter how hard i try. so i'm going to take a nap before another week begins.
and it's almost spring break...anyone want to plan anything random? let me know.

it has been a VERY interesting week...
honestly, not at all what i thought it would be, in a bad way.
but it has actually turned out to be quite a learning experience, even in a few days. i am learning a lot about patience and depending on God's understanding and not my own...
so, as usual, i am thankful for rough times in my life.
it hurts when you are being chipped away at, but definitely worth it in the end.
