behind the melody the words don't mean a thing

i've been trying to write my speech for freshman orientation since last thursday and each time i really try to sit down and write it, i got nothin'.

and i definitely should be done with it by now.

so i need a little inspiration, if anyone inspiring reads this.

thanks in advance.

"ain't that what you want them to know?
all they get of you is what they get out of the show.
the rest is mine, i guess, the beauty and the mess, to hide."

Here's some inspiration.....R E L A X! No worries lady! Here's an equation (I never was any good at math so read carefully) 1. Don't say the Creek SuX + 2. Don't act like a snob = 20,000 times better than last year! It's just basically a "Hey y'all welcome to the Creek! We'll have a blast this year!" If you need any other consultation, you know where I'm at.

tell them it doesn't matter who they were in high school - college is a new day, and they can bring their own value and self-worth to the table, they are not pegged in to anything yet

tell them that while SGA and Stud.Activities will do their best to provide some real highlights, the things they're going to remember most will be the stuff they did at waffle house at 3 in the morning, or in the dorms on a lazy saturday night

tell them that while they may have a best friend at another school, or even a best friend they've brought to campbell, don't ever let some perceived "loyalty" to someone prohibit them from making a friendship that may last forever

tell them that their major, while important, is not going to be the deciding factor in what they do after college - make sure they get a diverse and interesting education; why else would you go to a liberal arts college?

tell them to treasure the next 4 or even 5 years, because if everything goes right, there won't be a day they don't miss it for the rest of their lives

and most importantly

tell them to holla at the stunna when they see him in the streets

You have to make a speech for freshman orientation? I'd say transfer schools, like, STAT.
