i took the "could you be a simpson" quiz on mtv.com

and here are my results:

Like Ashlee, you prefer punk rock to polished pop and you've been known to wanna "la-la" from time to time. Like Jessica, your sense of humor makes everyone smile but you don't need your mom to help you do your laundry; you're perfectly capable of handling that on your own, thank you very much. Fluffy puppies in Louis Vuitton carriers probably aren't your thing either. A bull dog is way more your style. You could definitely hang with the Simpsons but overall, their family isn't the best fit for you. How about the Osbourne family? You'd have way more fun throwing hams (and curse words) with Sharon than you would singing carols with Nick and Jessica on their next Christmas special.

okay with me.

the real reason i did that is i am applying to intern for mtv this summer. definitely a long-shot, but hey, it could happen.

so since i'm doing entertainment

i have had to jump right in with this valentine's dinner/dance.

i want to do a "man's valentine's day" thing. it will be a sadie hawkin's dance, we'll have steak and potatoes for dinner, etc, etc. BUT i still need a "manly name" for the whole thing and i would like some more ideas as to what guys would like to see at a dinner and dance.

(within reason)

and, since i am not a guy, this is one of the harder assignments i have come up with for myself.

so, i'm putting it on here in hopes of some help. if you have any ideas, please leave a comment or im me at jinglchelle. thanks!

exciting news!

i just found out i have the same personality type as david, king of isreal. (oh, and bob saget...)

yippee!

actually, now that i think about it,

i do have more to say about friday night. not specifically about fiddler, but about the night.

my favorite parts:

1) i heard that katie beck yelled out "ohhhhh yeahhh" when they started the other bus to fiddler. then when my roommate asked her why, she didn't even realize she had done it. i know this doesn't sound so funny to the oustide world, but i tears come to my eyes just thinking about it.

b. lindsay and i were inspired by the play to learn russian dancing. maybe dimitry breuhl will teach us. which brings me to my last favorite part...

3 - dimitry, on kt beck's driving to wendy's after the show: "my prayer life will be much stronger when this trip is over." (add the ukranian accent and it's grrrrreat)

so here's to fiddler...melinda's birthday soon to come.

linds, dimitry, and i russian dancing

the bff and i love billy joel.

fiddler was great!

that's all i have to say about that.

after this semester is over

i will be a photographer/webmaster.

today in photography, i learned how to take pictures with a starburst filter and how to create my own blurry filters with space where the subject can remain clear. this was exciting, b/c i really want a blurry picture where the subject is totally clear. yes, i'm a dork.

also, for one of my assignments, i have to turn in a portrait so i need to shoot a few people. any takers?

today in web page, i learned the beginnings of writing a web page in html format. seriously, i feel like i'm now actually acquiring skills that i can use later on. and i'll be creating a detailed web page for the end of this semester...any ideas would be much appreciated.

tonight, linds and i have managed to waste lots of time on the internet looking at dresses and, well, dresses. exciting times here in jones 102.

as for the snow, i'm not too fond. but we'll see!

beauty in the breakdown

i'm so happy for, yet jealous of, all you guys who are in D.C. right now. i just should've gone, but i have sooo many classes today and i didn't have any time to get things together to leave. dang it.

i realized yesterday just how much i have going on again this semester and i started to freak out. but then i decided i shouldn't start feeling sorry for myself because i'm lucky to be involved in all of it. and it will all work itself out.

so here's to the next few busy, busy weeks. i'm getting a little ansy b/c time is flying and i'm just not ready to give up late nights, random outings, great friends...just wonderful college life in general. so i think i'll just bask in it for awhile.

and can i just say how much i love melinda? please??

(i found this when i typed in "i love you this much" on google images)

i also found this:

and this is me doing "stream of conciousness" writing. and now i will stop.

Tuesday, January 18, 2005

right now it's 27 degrees.

it was 17 degrees when i woke up this morning and i thought my weather bug must have been messed up, so i had to double-check with lindsay.

i'm not a fan of cold weather at all, but hey - at least we're finally moving into another season of the year (which = spring's that much closer....haha).

i've been asked to do entertainment for sga again. the thought of that makes me excited, especially since i have some ideas that we could use this semester that i think could really work well on this campus. since my last bout with entertainment, i've really learned a lot (especially being out of sga for a year). i've definitely learned that my grades are more important at this point, and i hope that i have also learned not to take things so personally and just to enjoy it. i'm still not sure whether i'll be doing it this semester, but it looks like there's a good chance.

in other news, nick's birthday was yesterday so we went to the cheesecake factory last night. good times, wonderful people.

fiddler on the roof is friday and melinda's 21st is saturday. we're going out of town and it is sure to be a good time. ;)

also, this semester i have already had the chance to write for a college devotional that is being published by professors from biola university in californ-i-a. i have already submitted two entries, and they have replied to one and asked for a few revisions, but they want me to send more. i'm really glad about that b/c it has been really encouraging to see these opportunities popping up out of nowhere.

the last week in january we are having a tsunami relief week here at campbell to raise funds for a relief organization. there will be a 3-on-3 tourny, variety show, candlelight vigil, coffee house, and end with the basketball game that thursday. just to let you know. i think it's a good idea if we all go ahead and set an amount we want to contribute individually because that way we won't be caught without any money to give. so here's a heads-up!

i'm really thankful for all the people i get to know better here. even just talking to some people for a few minutes each day makes me happy, like toni and josh today at lunch. i literally saw them for 3 or 4 minutes today, but they're great to be around. and i get to see katie, melinda, kt beck, jeanna, and gretchen more this semester than before it seems and i intend to keep it that way. :)

i guess i should get ready to go to envs lab. and work on controlling the excitement oozing out of my pores.

way to kick jason off the bachelorette, jenn...

but have no fear, we're sending rachel grubb to fort worth, tx tomorrow to find him.

highlight of my weekend...

getting pulled over at 1:30am with my wonderful friends dan, jeanna, and gretch in none other than a car like this:

to add more excitement to the night, the officer took all of our id's, then individuallly searched each of us before searching the mini.

in the end: no ticket, not even a warning. the cop didn't even have a radar.

all in a day's work.

good times tonight

with melinda and sheather.

great surprises in store for our friend r-i-c-k.

oh lord, here we go again...

i promise i won't post every week or anything, but i do have to say that i have two favorites from tonight's bachelorette:

Jason, Motivational Speaker from Fort Worth, TX

&

Ben, Ski Instructor from Aspen, CO

buuuuut, i'm not incredibly fond of the bachelorette. she's alright, but she already said she'd marry andrew firestone...

oh yeah, and this poor guy passed out:

i need to stop watching reality tv.

Monday, January 10, 2005

i'm taking 19 hours this semester and it's the best schedule i've ever had.

granted, 3 of those hours are yearbook, which i'm used to doing anyway and has no specific "class time" besides meetings.

mondays and wednesday i have marketing at 2pm. tuesdays it's interpersonal at 9:30am, envs at 11am and envs lab at 2:10. and the week winds up with interpersonal, envs, photography at 3:30pm and web page design at 6:30pm.

i take that back. the weeks winds up with no class on fridays.

now for the season premiere of the bachelorette. i know, i know...i'm too weak to pass it up. :)
